I understand the "Times" will shortly (perhaps tomorrow) have a strong leading article abusing us for helping France against China (talking of your failure to properly enforce the Enlistment Act at Hongkong).
Would it be possible to get our telegram (sent to them at noon) back from F.O. (this afternoon, with their concurrence in its terms), send it to the Colonies, & communicate the effect of it to the Press this evening? Would it not take the wind out of the "Times'" sails?
